Halloween Town Sora -- CRAFT SWAP! by car2in-bitz The likeness of the character is impressive, and the craftsmanship on his outfit is outstanding. Even if you're not familiar with the character, it's difficult to take your eyes off of this doll.

This is my first CRAFT SWAP!!!

A month ago the talented :iconmubygaelle:  and I decided to make a craft swap.  She wanted a super chibi Sora [Kingdom Hearts] and she left me to pick the outfit.  I wasted 1 week trying to decided which  outfit to make since all of Sora’s costumes are awesome.  Then I wasted another week searching for reference pictures ----pictures that I did not use because I changed my mind about the outfit I wanted to make.   Not only I changed my mind about the outfit but I changed my mind about the size of the doll too.  Making a different costume made me waste another week by searching for reference pictures which I have to say there were not many, so, I used a figure as my model.

Although, she requested a “super chibi” I felt like the super chibi doll looks kind of cute as a super-deformed [simplified] version of the character but the design of Sora’s costumes was too cool not to do a more detailed version. Therefore I made a 14-15 inch doll that allowed me to make a moderate version of the costume.

The clothes are not removable but each piece was made separately. Basically it is a 5 piece outfit: long sleeve shirt, vest, tights, pumpkin pants and shoes.

The hardest part of making this doll was the HAIR!!!!  I just told my sister that I will not make another doll with crazy hair like this again. LOL   There was a moment when I said to myself: Heck, I’ll make the hair out of felt! But that wouldn’t be me  . . . I mean,  I have never made hair out of felt, so, I do not feel confident enough to do it right.  After endless hours of stylizing the yarn hair it came close to what I feel is “not so bad.”  Unfortunately, I'm not so sure if it will endure the long trip to his new home.

I need to thank my sister for helping me straighten the hair of this little dude. I couldn't have done it without her. Thanks, sis!! :D

This was the first craft swap that I'm part of and I had a great time working on it. :D
